About Me

Congradulations to all those who've made EAL Radio what it is today and for keeping alive those precious memories that make up so much of our past! My name is Ken Boring. I am the youngest sibling of the Late Captain Weldon Lee Boring. I'm 53 years young and am married to my beautifiul wife Susan of 25 years. We have one child, Trent Weldon who is age seventeen. We live in Bradenton Florida where I recently resigned my employment with Brookdale Senior Living. For the previous eight years, I've worked as a Nurse Supervisor of a large memory care unit and assisstaed living facility. I enjoy writing about my expierences and recently published my first book entitled, Remembering What I Forgot; which tells of a day in the life of a memory unit nurse. I'm honered to know everyone at EAL Radio and hope to learn as much as possible about the GREAT SILVER FLEET. My dad thourghly enjoyed his career at Eastern, and now I have the oppertunity to interact with the people he once knew and loved. A huge thank you to Neal Holland and to all those who make EAL Radio possible. See you on the radio!!!

About Me

My career with EAL was short, but certainly influenced my life thereafter in so many ways.  I was based in D.C. , lived at the Huntington in Alexandria, and enjoyed flying the Caribbean routes the most.  My last line I held was a turn-around out of Friendship to the Bahamas which was Monday thru Friday, giving me weekends off, a much desired schedule .

After I quit and moved back to Minnesota, the tropical climate of the Caribbean was always on my radar after that.  All my vacations were to the Caribbean every winter.  Eventually I moved to the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas, in the early eighties where I lived for five amazing years.  I met my husband there where we had a romantice courtship and  eventual marriage back in the States.

About Me

Longtime fan of Eastern Airlines, aviation and railroad history. New fan of the show. Really enjoy it.

I work for the Atlanta History Center, where we have a number of preserved Eastern items in our collection (numerous uniforms).

Former employee of the North Carolina Transportation Museum at Historic Spencer Shops and was involved in preserving Eastern signage for that institution.

I grew up in Tampa, Florida, where my dad and I enjoyed watching planes together. We flew Eastern, National, Piedmont, Pan Am, Braniff, PBA and Delta in those days (and went to the Bahamas on Mackey II).

There's lots of aviation stuff in my house here in Stone Mountain, Georgia, including Eastern cocktail napkins, books, a 727-200 seat map (with stickers!) a matchbook and coasters. If only Eastern were alive today!
