My career started March 01, 1967 at the ticket counter, Terminal 1, Toronto International Airport, YYZ. Just over 1 year later the opportunity to transfer to operations came up and I made the move to "ops". This was an exciting time for me. The Station Manager that hired me was Ed Barbie. In my last interview with him I said I have my private pilots licence but if I am hired I promise I won't leave. I just want to be around airplanes. Ed gave me the chance to live my dream for 17 years. Eastern purchased Braniff's routes and South and Central America opened up. I had just transferred to the Sales Office in Toronto (YYZSQ) and this was another exciting time for me. I agressively marketed this product to all the Canadian Travel Agencies. One year we had 53 agencies attendind the Las Americas program in Miami. Along came Continental and Continental/Eastern Sales Academy was created and based in the Hartley Training Center. We provided sales training for all the Continental/Eastern sales force. My next assignment was to the Eastern Northeast Regional Sales Office in Washington. Then, with the difficulties at Eastern I was transferred back to Toronto where my Eastern career came to an end.
