214: Are you ready to be on the new CERTIFICATED EASTERN AIR LINES "First
Flight" or "Pioneers Flight"? Whatever the official
designation of such a flight we want your input to be heard. You have
heard us on the radio show talk about the flight and even request reservations
on the flight. Now it is available to us as former Eastern Airlines
employees and even encouraged by its President, Mr. Ed Wegel to make it
happen. The thought of being on this flight was received by the Radio
Show by over 200 Eastern employees, family and friends of Eastern wanting to be
on this flight. There are several things to consider before we start
accepting confirmed reservations. We will talk about these items during
the Monday, April 25th radio broadcast. Please plan to listen/call in at

Rickenbacker" would think of our American veterans in such a way. If
you were in attendance, we want to hear from you. We'll also try to
check-in with Mary Block in her little "Wings of Man" trailer as she

Episode 225: On January 1st, 1985 at
approximately 8:38 p.m., and Eastern Airlines Boeing 727 Flight 980
piloted by Captain Larry Campbell on a routine flight from Asuncion,
Paraguay, to La Paz, Bolivia crashed into the Andes Mountains outside La
Paz, Bolivia John F. Kennedy International Airport. All twenty-nine
souls on board were killed. What might have transpired in the final
moments between the pilots' acknowledgment of a descent clearance to
18,000 feet in preparation for landing at La Paz and the jet's
devastating impact with Mt. Illimani?
Guests tonight include two brothers, Captain Allen Gerber and Mark
Gerber who represented the Airline Pilots Association, ALPA along with
the NTSB investigating team making the expedition up the slopes of Mt. Illimani October, 1985.
