Here is a quick note to update everyone who is planning to attend this year’s REPA convention.
You should know by now that the convention is at the Francis Marion hotel in Charleston, S.C., on September 4th through September 6th. We expect this will be one of the most entertaining REPA conventions yet!
In addition to the usual cocktail and meal activities, we will again have a live auction of Eastern memorabilia, as we did in Birmingham last year. If you attended the Birmingham convention you know how much fun we had there with Jim Gardner being our Auctioneer.
Savannah Steve, our DJ, once again will be entertaining us musically. Incidentally, if you have any Eastern “stuff” you would like to donate for the auction please bring it along. Both these events will take place at the buffet dinner on Wednesday night, September, 5th.
At our plated dinner on Thursday night, September, 6th we will be entertained by Political Comedian and Voice Impersonator, Jim Gossett. I’m told Jim will definitely keep you laughing as many of us have heard him on the radio in Atlanta.
This year’s Ladies Luncheon, in addition to great food, will feature demonstrations by the Sweetgrass ladies, who sell their baskets in the market and on the streets of Charleston. I understand that the REPA ladies will be given the opportunity to try their luck at making a small basket.
So, if you are attending and haven’t made your hotel reservations or haven’t sent in your registration forms, better do so quickly. To be guaranteed a room at the REPA rate, you MUST make your reservation with the hotel by Friday, August 10, 2018. That number is (843) 722-0600 or (877) 756-2121. Be sure to tell them you are with the Retired Eastern Pilot’s group.
And remember the first 25 to send in their REPA Registration will be eligible to win a check for one free night in the Francis Marion!
Sure hope to see you there.
The 48th Annual REPA Convention will be held at the Francis Marion Hotel in downtown Charleston, Hotel arrangements are to be made directly with the hotel, arriving on September 4, and departing on September 7, 2018. The Hotel does not provide a Shuttle but recommends Mitch’s Limo Service by appointment. See
Downtown Charleston is loaded with shopping and fine dining as well as the excellent facilities provided at a fine old style hotel…There will be much more about the convention on the REPA Website and in the 2018 REPArtee magazine (which will be mailed in late May of next year)…So, mark your calendars and join us there!!!
